In February 2010, the Boy Scouts of America will celebrate 100 years as an organization. Founded as an outlet to prepare every eligible youth in America to become a participating citizen and leader, BSA has more than fulfilled its mission. Today, as we celebrate our first 100 years, we not on only reflect on our rich history, but lay the foundation for a strong future, Westark Area Council invites you to celebrate with us.
Westark Area Council also is celebrating this year as it commemorate it's 90th Anniversary of existence.
Gala Honors Jack Shewmaker With Lifetime Alumni Award/Silver Beaver
Jack Shewmaker, former WalMart President was honored with the Lifetime Alumni Award and the Silver Beaver at the 100th Anniversary Gala on Saturday, May 1 at the Holiday Inn Convention Center in Springdale, Arkansas. The Lifetime Alumni Award presentation was made by Gala Chairman Donnie Green and the Silver Beaver presentation was made by Robert J. Mazzuca, Chief Scout Executive, Boy Scouts of America.
Dr. Paul Beran, President of the Westark Area Council presented the Chief with an Arkansas Traveler Award, signed by Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe.
The 2009 Class of Eagles were presented Congressional Certificates by United States Congressman John Boozman, 3rd District.
The 100th Anniversary Committee would like to say "Thank You" to Donnie Green for his hard work, time and talent, Chairing the 100th Anniversary Gala.
